Those passing two exams with a grade of 70% or higher will receive a Certificate of Course Completion to fulfill the training requirements of the FDA Acidified Food regulations. Exams will be open book\, multiple choice and will be online. Exams generally require no more than one hour to complete. Homework is required. SUMMARY:Introduction to EPA Worker Protection Standard for Pesticide Safety - ONLINE
DESCRIPTION:K-State Research & Extension will provide this free introductory training that will cover the basic principles of WPS regulation\, compliance\, and liability. The training will also review correct measures to manage the health risks from occupational exposure to pesticides. You must comply with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Worker Protection Standard if all three of the following apply: \n– You own or manage an agricultural establishment (i.e.\, farm\, orchards\, nurseries\, greenhouses\, etc.)\, and \n– Your work is directly related to producing agricultural plants\, and \n– WPS-labeled pesticides (herbicides\, insecticides\, fungicides\, miticides\, etc.) have been applied on your establishment within the last 30 days. WPS-labeled pesticides may be restricted-use pesticides or general-use pesticides. Look for the “Agricultural Use Requirements” box on the pesticide label \nThe zoom link for accessing the training online will be sent the day before the training. SUMMARY:FSMA Produce Safety Grower Training
DESCRIPTION:University of Missouri Extension and Kansas State Research and Extension are partnering to offer the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Alliance (PSA) Grower Training remotely. The class will take place on May 7 AND May 8 from 1-5PM CDT each day. In order to receive a certificate of training\, you will have to attend the entire training on both days and we must be able to see a live video feed of you at least periodically throughout the entire training (or you need to speak or type into the chat when requested) to ensure that you are engaged throughout the entire training. You must participate in the training on a device larger than your phone (i.e. tablet or computer). Note that it is very important that you are listening and engaged during the training to be eligible to receive the certificate of training. If you are a covered farm under the FSMA Produce Safety Rule and need the training\, this course will meet that requirement (for more information visit https://www.ksre.k-state.edu/foodsafety/produce/fsma/index.html). You will be required to return a course evaluation before you will receive your certificate of training. \nThis training is geared for produce growers in Kansas and Missouri (but participants from other states are welcome as space allows) and other regulatory or support personnel and will be limited to 30 participants. SUMMARY:Produce Safety Refresher/Annual Supervisor Training - ONLINE
DESCRIPTION:K-State Research & Extension and the University of Missouri Extension will provide Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule (PSR) Annual Training for Supervisors. This 90-minute training was designed to assist farm supervisors meet the annual training requirement outlined in the PSR. This training is not intended for agricultural workers – instead\, it has been developed for farm owners and managers who have already attended the full day FSMA PSA Grower Training. This training will also review how farm managers can adequately train their agricultural workers in compliance with the PSR. This training can also serve as a refresher for those who have already attended the full day PSA Grower Training\, as well as those looking for an abbreviated introduction to the FSMA PSR. \nNote that completing the full day FSMA PSA Grower Training is not a prerequisite for this supervisor training! \nThis program is supported by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award U2FFD007412 totaling $380\,743 with 100 percent funded by FDA/HHS.
